Cuyamaca Rancho State Park is the Jewel of San Diego County's mountains. It is a haven for hikers, equestrians, mountain bikers, campers and wildlife watchers. Established in 1933, the park encompasses over 25,000 acres of protected wildlife habitat, watershed, archaeological sites, botanical reserve, and recreational land. Roughly half of the park is classified as a wilderness area. Each year thousands of people visit Green Valley and Paso Picacho campgrounds, Stonewall Mine, and Los Vaqueros horse camp. Cuyamaca Rancho State Park borders Cuyamaca lake, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, Cleveland National Forest and private land. |
